The IPL 2024 auction is approaching and players are getting ready. Among them are veterans Mohammad Nabi, Moises Henriques, and Colin Munro. However, they will not be the oldest players to have made it to the auction. Here are the 5 oldest players bought at the IPL auction:
1. Pravin Tambe: The leg-spinner was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹ 20 lakh at the 2020 IPL auction, making him 48 years, 2 months & 11 days old at the time.
2. Brad Hogg: Kolkata Knight Riders bought the chinaman for ₹ 50 lakh at the 2015 IPL auction when he was 44 years old.
3. Amit Mishra: The leg spinner went unsold in 2022 but was later picked up by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹ 50 lakh at the 2023 auction when he was 40 years & 29 days old.
4. Muttiah Muralitharan: Royal Challengers Bangalore bought the highest wicket-taker in cricket history for ₹ 1.12 crore at the 2012 auction when he was 39 years, 9 months & 18 days old.
5. Imran Tahir: Chennai Super Kings bought the leggie for ₹ 1 crore at the 2018 IPL auction when he was 38 years & 10 months old.
Will be interesting to see if the veteran players participating in the IPL 2024 auction will beat these, the older age they get, the luckier they might become.
