Bangladesh vs New Zealand 2nd Test, Day 1: Spinners ruled the roost as 15 wickets fell on a crumbling track in Mirpur.

Spinners ruled the roost on the opening day of the BAN vs NZ second Test in Mirpur on Wednesday. Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, and Ajaz Patel spun the web on Bangladesh batters before Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam turned the heat on the Kiwi batters to conclude an entertaining day.

While it looked Bangladesh were back on track, Rahim’s brain fade moment in the 41st over just gave New Zealand an opening. The wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for obstructing the field and went back to pavilion after scoring 35.

Hossain couldn’t stay for much long either as he departed after scoring a gritty 31.

The lower couldn’t make much contributions as the hosts got bowled out for 172. Phillips, Santner picked 3 wickets apiece, while Ajaz and Tim Southee claimed two and one wicket, respectively.

However, Bangladeshi spinners brought back the Sylhet horror for Kiwi batters as Mehidy and Taijul combined to reduce the visitors to 46/5

Daryl Mitchell (12) and Glenn Phillips (5) were battling the spin threat until stumps was called because of bad light.
