India Cricket Team will play a series of games comprising two tests, three ODIs and three T20Is against the Proteas. The matches are scheduled from December 10 to 21. Coincidentally, the India ‘A’ team will also be visiting South Africa for a shadow tour during the IND vs SA T20Is. The team will be playing two four-day matches against South Africa A and one inter-squad three-day match.
The BCCI has organised ‘A’ team trips to nations where the senior squad is expected to visit for Test matches over the years. With the main focus being on the ODI World Cup in recent months, ‘A’ team trips have not taken place since the Bangladesh series last year.
However, five or six ‘A’ games in the first-class format are scheduled between December and January. After two four-day games in South Africa, India ‘A’ will host England for a few four-day series.
in South Africa, India has never won a Test series. They had a quite a close opportunity after taking a 1-0 lead on their last trip. However they lost the series by a 2-1 deficit, prompting Virat Kohli to step down as red-ball captain as well.
