Luka Modric’s Potential Move to the Saudi Pro League with Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s star Luka Modric is on his way to the Saudi Pro League after seeing his playing time with the La Liga giants decrease.

Luka Modric appears to be following in the footsteps of former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. According to reports, the Real Madrid midfielder is mulling a move to the Saudi Pro League. The decision comes as a result of his decreasing playing time with the Spanish giants.

Modric’s time with Los Blancos is coming to an end, according to Spanish site SPORT (via GOAL). His current deal with La Liga giants ends at the end of the season. Modric had previously turned down a hefty offer from a Saudi club. It was reportedly worth £120 million per season.

Luka Modric is currently 38 years old and striving to find playing time in a much younger Madrid club. As a result, the end of his career appears to coincide with a period in Saudi Arabia. The Croatian legend, who signed a one-year contract with Real Madrid last summer, was certain of his future worth at the club.

Nonetheless, his playing time has been considerably reduced this season. Modric has started only five of Real Madrid’s 17 matches in all competitions. Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and the emerging Jude Bellingham have all overtaken him in Madrid’s midfield and attack.

After more than a decade at the Bernabeu, Modric appears to be looking for fresh challenges. However, Jose Angel Sanchez, Madrid’s general director, has explicitly denied any January transfer speculation. Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad are among the Saudi Pro League clubs rumoured to be interested in signing Modric.

A move to the latter would allow him to reestablish his fantastic combination with former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. But first and foremost, Modric will be concentrating on assisting Real Madrid in reclaiming the La Liga and Champions League titles.
