Manchester United and Portugal star Bruno Fernandes may get banned ahead of his possible transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has been recently linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, where his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo plays. It has been reported by Spanish news source Fichajes that many Saudi Pro Club teams are ready to offer a massive €100 million bid to complete a move for Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United to the Saudi Pro League.

It has only been a few days since this rumour has surfaced, but another twist has already presented itself. According to Sportskeeda, there is a scarcely known rule within the Saudi Pro League, which may cause some problems. If Bruno Fernandes or anyone who is a part of his team breaks this rule, it may see Fernandes get banned from the Saudi Pro League.

Players joining the Saudi Pro League with an annual salary exceeding $3 million need to receive league approval before joining. On top of this, there is a particularly strict rule which all players and their representatives must follow. As clubs in the Saudi League are not allowed to engage in competitive bidding for a player, any player who uses one club’s interest to leverage a higher salary from another club will be immediately blacklisted by the Saudi Pro League.

Will Manchester United allow their captain to leave in the summer?

Bruno Fernandes is a crucial part of Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United. While the midfielder is not at his best currently, he is still the most creative player at Manchester United. The Portugal star is not only a key player but also Manchester United’s captain. Fernandes was appointed as the captain by Erik Ten Hag. It will be challenging for the Saudi League to try and complete a move for the Portuguese international.

While Bruno is a very crucial player for Manchester United, the club may be tempted to accept the transfer offer. Bruno is the club captain, but €100 million will help lift the pressure of the financial fair play (FFP) rules. It will also help them sign a replacement for Bruno Fernandes.

Erik Ten Hag will undoubtedly want to keep Bruno at United, but it may not be his decision to make. Ten Hag has protected Bruno as a player as well as a captain many times. He thinks very highly of Fernandes and will hope the Portugal star will be a part of his plan at United for a long time. Only time will tell if Bruno stays at Manchester United or moves to the Saudi Pro League come the summer.
