Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has questioned the decision to exclude Ishan Kishan for the last two IND vs AUS T20Is. Notably, the 23-year-old Kishan was part of the IND vs AUS T20I squad for the first three matches of the series following the ICC World Cup 2023, but was sent home after the third T20I.
Shreyas Iyer, who featured in all 11 matches of the World Cup, flew in to be Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the last two T20Is against Australia. Ishan Kishan was replaced by Jitesh Sharma for the final two matches.
Jadeja cast doubt on the decision, questioning whether Kishan was fatigued after just three games, while maintaining his faith in Kishan’s game-changing ability and his skills to strike a match-winning blow on any given day.
“There was a series right after the World Cup. Ishan Kishan played three matches and went home. Was he really that tired after three matches that he needed rest? He didn’t even play a lot of games at the World Cup. He deserved his spot in the playing XI for the first few World Cup matches,” Jadeja told while speaking to Sports Tak.
