t Khamzat Chimaev would like to face Alex Pereira thereafter as opposed to Kamaru Usman again. Conversely, Pereira has some unresolved matters of his own.
A top-tier striker is Alex Pereira. He is the inaugural Glory kickboxing champion over two divisions. In 2021, he made his UFC debut and vanquished several titles. He won the middleweight title in the UFC after defeating Isreal Adesanya. Additionally, he currently holds the title in the light heavyweight class, whom Khamzat Chimaev wants to defeat.
The ninth double-division winner is Pereira. Chimaev, on the other hand, has not yet claimed any titles.
Why Does Khamzat Chimaev Want To Fight Alex Pereira
After finishing Jiri Prochazka to win the vacant title at UFC 295, Pereira (9-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) accepted a challenge from Chimaev (13-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC). “Poatan” challenged Israel Adesanya to a trilogy, but Jamahal Hill, the former champion, is anticipated to face him in his maiden championship defense.
At UFC 294 in a 185-pound match, undefeated Chimaev upset former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman via tight decision. In response to Chimaev’s callout, Pereira stated that “Borz” had his opportunity previously when he showed an interest in facing him.
Now that Alex Pereira is the UFC light heavyweight champion, everyone is paying attention to him. The most recent fighter who wishes to challenge him is Khamzat Chimaev.
‘Borz’s’ last fight was against Usman, who was forced to fight without a complete fight camp. Fans begged for a rematch after the former welterweight champion nearly defeated the young talent so the Nigerian boxer could have a full training camp.
But it appears that Khamzat Chimaev would like to face Alex Pereira thereafter as opposed to Kamaru Usman again. Conversely, Pereira has some unresolved matters of his own. After winning, he challenged Israel Adesanya, his longstanding foe, to another battle.
Alex Pereira said, not taking Chimaev’s call seriously,
“I’m the champ at light heavyweight, and he calls me out at light heavyweight. So, this only shows that these type of fighters are trying to run behind the hype and the fame of the champions, and it doesn’t make sense. Now I have to do what? Call him out at heavyweight or what?
“So, it doesn’t make sense.”
