CSK already has a strong squad, but they still have a few holes they’ll look to fill.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will come to the IPL 2024 auction with the intention of further strengthening their squad. The team had a great lineup last season, but a few roles need to be filled. With a limited purse at the mini-auction, these are the players CSK will look to buy in the IPL 2024 auction:
Player | Country | Role |
---|---|---|
Azmatullah Omarzai | Afghanistan | Batting All-rounder |
Gerald Coetzee | South Africa | Pace Bowler |
Sadeera Samarawickrama | Sri Lanka | Wicketkeeper Batter |
Pat Cummins | Australia | Bowling All-rounder |
Azmatullah Omarzai/Pat Cummins for Ben Stokes
After picking up England Test skipper Ben Stokes for a whopping INR 16.25 crore, CSK might think to drop the injury-prone all-rounder. The southpaw managed to score just 15 runs in 2 matches and bowl a single over in the last season.
Azmatullah Omarzai took the world by storm in the 2023 World Cup, scoring over 350 runs and picking up 7 wickets in 9 matches. Pat Cummins, on the other hand, has already done well in the IPL over 6 seasons. Picking up 45 wickets in 42 matches while striking the ball at over 150.

Sadeera Samarawickrama
CSK will look to pick up Sri Lankan wicketkeeper batter Sadeera Samarawickrama, who scored his debut ton to replace Kedar Jadhav. Sadeera was Lanka’s highest run scorer, raking up 373 runs at run a ball while averaging over 50.
