India’s innings in the World Cup 2023 finals against Australia was briefly paused after a pitch invasion. The IND vs AUS game, being played at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, was stopped for a few minutes after a reported invasion on the pitch from a spectator. India was 3 wickets down at the end of the 13th over when the disruption occurred. A fan wearing a T-shirt that read ‘Stop bombing Palestine’ and seemingly supporting the LGBTQ+ community reportedly invaded the pitch towards the end of the 13th over. Virat Kohli, who was at the crease at that time, looked uncomfortable as the invader reached up to him. Security rushed in to contain the invader. Security officials detained the invader soon after the incident. The game resumed without any discrepancy. The invader was covering his face as he approached Virat Kohli.
