Insidesport takes a look at the U Mumba playing 7 for their first PKL 2023 match against UP Yoddhas.
The 2015 champions U Mumba finished 9th in PKL season 9 and would like to make amends in PKL 2023. For the same reason they only retained four players including skipper Surinder Singh, and Rinku. In the PKL auction 2023, they looked at getting a raider of some repute and were successful too. They got Guman Singh, who could eventually end the raiding woes for the team.
U Mumba Playing 7 in PKL 2023
Without any doubt, Guman becomes the first choice in the U Mumba team for PKL 2023. Last year, for the same franchise, he had scored 137 points in 18 games. The only difference is, he will be spearheading the attack, which could put him under pressure.
The skipper of the team, Surinder is their most experienced player too. Although his form has been on the wane in the last few seasons, his leadership skills could come in handy.
He took care of the raiding responsibilities for U Mumba in Pro Kabaddi when no one in the department could shine last year. Still, he did enough to be a regular feature in PKL 2023.
Mahender scored 45 tackle points for Bengaluru Bulls in the last season and, by picking him, Mumba brought more stability in their team.
Girish Maruti Ernak
Ernak is a bull in any team, and their defence is incomplete without him. In the last season for Bengal Warriors, he scored a massive 51 points.
The last two seasons have seen Rinku become India’s most feared defender. He is a starter for sure in this strong line-up.
It is rare to find a quality Iranian raider, and Ekrami is certainly a find for U Mumba. He could be utilised in do-or-die raids or in situations where the team has to take a risk.
