Unveiling the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup

The 13th edition of the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup will begin in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 5th to 16th December. The tournament for the Under-21 men will feature 16 teams fighting for the Junior World title.

Last edition of the tournament was held in Bhubaneswar, India and Argentina won the title. The 16 teams in the upcoming edition will be divided into four groups of four team each.

FIH Men’s Junior World Cup – Groups

Pool A will feature defending champions Argentina, hosts Malaysia, along with Australia and Chile. In Pool B, last edition’s silver medallist Germany and bronze medallists France are drawn together. Two other teams in the pool are Egypt and South Africa.

Pool C comprises India along with Spain, South Korea and Canada. While Pool D has strong teams like Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand and Pakistan.

Pool B – Germany, France, Egypt, South Africa

Pool C – India, Spain, South Korea, Canada

Pool D – Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, Pakistan

India in FIH Men’s Junior World Cup 2023

Two-time champions India will be led by forward Uttam Singh. India narrowly missed bronze medal in the last edition by finishing fourth.

They will start their campaign against South Korea on December 5. Their next match will be up against Spain on December 7. They then will face Canada on December 9.

India Squad

Goalkeepers: Mohit HS, Ranvijay Singh Yadav. 

Defenders: Shardanand Tiwari, Amandeep Lakra, Rohit, Sunil JoJo, Amir Ali. 

Midfielders: Vishnukant Singh, Poovanna C B, Rajinder Singh, Amandeep, Aditya Singh.

Forwards: Uttam Singh (Captain), Aditya Lalage, Araijeet Singh Hundal (vice-captain), Sourabh Anand Kushwaha, Sudeep Chirmako, Boby Singh Dhami. 

Reserve players: Sukhvinder, Sunit Lakra.
